TSU uniformed security officers are carefully screened and selected. TSU members see TSU Protection Services as a career and not just another job. All security officers receive ongoing training according to the highest standards. TSU officers receive training in
- basic security functions
- professional attitude and appearance

- crisis management
- first aid.
All members are trained and receive a certificate equivalent to SAQO standards. TSU motivate their members by paying the studies of selected members in Security Management (recognized by UNISA). Static security members are trained and motivated to become Close Protection officers, Executive Support Agents, Security Risk Management Consultants, Security Managers or Area Managers.

How to Grow Your Career in Security
For a TSU Static security member to become a Close Protection Officer, Security Risk Management Consultant or a Security Manager, he/she needs to pass all the following tests:
- Security Guarding - fitness tests, firearm handling and shooting tests, security functions, professional attitude and appearance, public relations and crisis management, as well as first aid.
- Armed Response - fitness tests, firearm shooting, first aid, unarmed combat fighting, security functions, professional attitude and appearance, public relations and crisis management.
- Escorting of Valuable Cargo - fitness tests, firearm shooting, first aid, unarmed combat fighting, planning security functions, professional attitude and appearance, public relations and crisis management.
- Executive Protection as part of a team - management course, team player, a fitness test, firearm shooting, first aid, unarmed combat fighting, security functions, professional attitude and appearance, public relations and crisis management.
- Executive Support Agent - management leader's course, team player, advance planning, professional attitude and appearance, public relations and crisis management.
- Close Protection Agent (Detail leader) - advanced management course, leadership course, crisis management course.
- Security Manager - needs the Technikon RSA Security Management course.
- Security Risk Analysis Consultant
