Close Protection Training

The Close Protection Training Course is a 28 day intensive training program for the person who is in the field of protecting VIP’s and Executives in the Military, Police or Corporate Environments.

Accreditions

The course is accredited with SASSETA (local), PSIRA (local), City and Guilds (International).

New SASSETA Unit Standards

  • Provide Static Protection to Designated Persons U/S 244317;
  • Provide Close Protection to Designated Persons whilst in Transit U/S 244319;
  • Provide Pedestrian Escort to Designated Persons within a Close Protection Environment U/S 244327;
  • Compile a Threat and Risk Assessment for a Close Protection Operation U/S 244330;
  • Provide Close Protection to a Designated Person whilst Embus and Debus U/S 244334;

City and Guilds (International Qualification)

  • City and Guilds Practical and Theoretical Exam
  • Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection

Close Protection Training Course Content

The course includes theoretical lectures with practical and realistic, experience driven exercises.

  • Advanced Driver Training (see Advanced Driver Training for details of course content)
  • First Aid Medical Level 3:
    • Principles of emergency care
    • Safety and emergency care management
    • The emergency care provider and the law
    • Cardio pulmonary resuscitation
    • Foreign body airway obstruction
    • Primarily and secondary assessments
    • Glasgow coma scale
    • Blood pressure/ shock/ unconsciousness/ epilepsy
    • Wounds and bleeding/ fractures/ burns
    • Head, spinal and chest injuries
    • Abdominal and pelvic injuries/ muscuskeletal injuries
    • Medical emergencies/ environmental injuries
    • Water and diving related injuries
    • Poisoning/ bites and stings
    • Multiple patient incidents
    • Emergency childbirth
